About Me

I was born in Detroit, Michigan, December 1, 1966. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego (B.A., 1988, Philosophy) and received my Juris Doctorate and Masters in the Study of Environmental Law, from Vermont Law School in 1992. I lived in San Francisco, California from 1983 until 1989 when I moved to South Royalton, Vermont to attend Vermont Law School. At VLS, I met my husband, Gregg Meyer. Gregg is a partner at Kohn, Rath & Meyer in Hinesburg, Vermont and has a civil litigation practice.

Before opening my own practice, I worked for active litigation firms in both Montpelier and Rutland, Vermont. Fortunately, I received excellent legal and ethical mentoring from some of the state's finest trial lawyers. I was also privileged to work for Vermont Legal Aid, Inc., where I represented victims of domestic violence in relief from abuse proceedings, and people with severe psychiatric diagnoses in civil commitment proceedings.

As a member of the local and Vermont community, I currently volunteer as a Board Member of Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. and Vermont Legal Services Law Line. I teach the pro se education class for Washington County Family Court, and frequently serve as a court appointed attorney for a child, or a guardian ad litem. I also served on the the Vermont Council on Family Violence.
